We can find beginnings of hammer throw in games of celt's fighters, who completed in throwing by wheel from chariot.

     The other allusions we find in Ireland's and Scotch's games, where miners completed by a real hammer with wooden helve. With this tool was throwed at first sport's game in 60th years 19th  century in England.

     The first diameter of circle was 305 cm. Today the diameter of circle is 213.5 cm.

     The technique of hammer throw has been beginning to develop in 19th  century. The first performance was about 25 metres. World's record was 42.17 m in 1887.

     In 20th  century the wooded helve was substituted for chain and later by string made of steel, which was finish by hand on the one's part and by shot on the second part. The lenght of hammer is 119.5 - 121.5 cm and the weight of hammer is 7.256 kg (16 pounds).

     At the beginning 20th  century Flanagan was the most known in hammer's world. He had been olympic's winner for three times. He had won in 1900, 1904 and 1908. His technique was two turns.

     Plaw was the first man, who throwed on the three turns. Flanagan started to throw on the three turns and he broke the world's record. His performance best was 56.19.

     The technique was the most improvement by coach from Germany in 30th  years 20th  century. His name is Christmann. He began to teach the turns ,,heel - toe". This technique has throwed still.

     After the second world's war Hungarien and Russian started to be the best hammer - throwers. The best were - Cyermak, Nemeth, Zsivotsky from Hungary; Krivonosov, Rudenkov, Klim, Bondarchuk, Spiridonov from Russian.

Czermak was first, who throwed over 60 metres (60.34 - 1952).

Connoly was first, who throwed over 70 metres (70.33 - 1960).

Bondarchuk was first, who throwed over 75 metres (75.48 - 1969).

Zaychuk was first, who throwed over 80 metres (80.14 - 1980).

Sedykh was first, who throwed over 85 metres (86.34 - 1984).

     From 1980 hammer-throwers from Russian - Litvinov, Tamm, Sedykh were the best.

Sedykh is current world's record holder. His performance has worth 86.74 (1986).

     The women started to be known later. The first world's record was 58.94 in 1988. The lenght of woman's hammer is 117.5 - 119.5 cm and the weight of hammer is 4.00 kg.

Aya Suzuki was first, who throwed over 60 metres (61.20 - 1989).

Olga Kuzenkova was first, who throwed over 65 metres (65.40 - 1992).

Olga Kuzenkova was first, who throwed over 70 metres (71.22 - 1997).

Mihaela Melinte was first, who throwed over 75 metres (75.97 - 1999).

Mihaela Melinte, from Romanian, is current world's record holder and it has worth 76.07 (1999)
